Katana by Tsuda Ōmi no Kami Sukenao dated 1684, with a tōran-ba hamon and a cutting-test inscription on the tang; NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper, koshirae and shirasaya.
Katana by Tsuda Ōmi no Kami Sukenao, an Ōsaka smith of the shintō period. According to the original seller, he was a pupil of Tsuda Echizen no Kami Sukehiro, became related to him by marriage and was later adopted by him; this blade would be a work from his 46th year. Nagasa 68.2 cm, sori 1.2 cm. The photographs show a tōran-ba hamon, the billowing waves typical of the school; the original seller describes a crisp, bright nioiguchi, abundant nie with tama in the ji and a tight ko-itame jigane. The tang, declared suriage by the seller, has two mekugi-ana and is signed 津田近江守助直 (Tsuda Ōmi no Kami Sukenao) on the omote; the ura bears the date 貞享元年二月日 (Jōkyō gannen nigatsu hi) and the cutting-test inscription 一試快断胸背 (hitotsu tamesu kaidan munase), which the seller considers rare for this smith. It comes in shirasaya and with a koshirae comprising a red-lacquered saya, a pierced tsuba with a dragon among clouds and waves, and fuchi-kashira and menuki with gold dragons. It is accompanied by an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Tōken paper issued in 2023.
