Description
A 松樹図小柄 (shōju-zu kozuka), a kozuka with a pine tree as its sole motif. The front is shakudō with a fine, even nanako ground framed by a gold rim; on it sits a pine tree in solid gold worked in high relief, its crowns rendered as chiselled scales and its trunk and branches fully modelled. The back and edges are gold. The paper describes it as 赤銅魚子地 (shakudō nanako-ji) with 金紋 (kinmon). The piece is unsigned, 無銘 (mumei), and the paper attributes it to 伝程乗 (den Teijō), that is Gotō Teijō, 9th master of the main Gotō line, active in the early Edo period. The photographs show crisp nanako and an intact gold relief without knocks or losses; the gold back plate shows fine surface hairlines. It carries an NBTHK 特別保存刀装具 (tokubetsu hozon tōsōgu) paper, no. 2008577, dated July 2022. According to the original seller it measures 9.75 × 1.45 cm and comes in a paulownia box.
