Chikugo Kanenori

Profile

Kanenori (包則) is a smith of Echizen who signed with the title of Chikugo no Kami (筑後守). One of his blades is signed 以南蛮鉄筑後守藤原包則 (nanban-tetsu o motte Chikugo no Kami Fujiwara Kanenori), which further declares that it was forged with nanban-tetsu (南蛮鉄), imported iron. The Japanese Wikipedia article on the Japanese sword mentions a Kanenori (包則) among the smiths of the Shimosaka (下坂) group of Echizen (越前), with no title or other details, so it is not established that he is the same man. Beyond this, little more is known of him.
