Kunitsugu is a name of the shintō period about which the reference works consulted say nothing. It is known from a blade that bears 以南蛮鉄 (nanban-tetsu o motte) on the reverse of the tang, which declares that it was forged with imported iron; its signature is not transcribed, so neither the title nor the generation can be checked.
