Echizen Kanenori
越前兼則 (Echizen Kanenori)
An Echizen smith ranked yoki-wazamono, the third of the four cutting grades of the 1797 Kaihō Kenjaku.
Profile
Echizen Kanenori (越前兼則) worked in Echizen. The Kaihō Kenjaku, the ranking of blades by cutting quality published in 1797 by the Yamada house, which carried out the shogunate's cutting tests, counts him among the fifty yoki-wazamono, the third of its four grades. He should not be confused with Kashū Kanenori of Kaga, whom the same list places among the ō-wazamono.
