Gūshū Masakage

Gūshū Masakage (隅州正景) is the name to whom a blade signed 伯耆守平朝臣正幸 (Hōki no Kami Taira Ason Masayuki) and dated 文化十三年子八月 (Bunka jūsan-nen ne hachigatsu), the eighth month of Bunka 13 (1816), is attributed. The NBTHK paper of that blade attributes it to Masakage as daimei (代銘), that is, signed by him on behalf of Masayuki: 伝隅州正景代銘 (den Gūshū Masakage daimei). Gūshū (隅州) is the province of Ōsumi. Nothing more is known of Masakage: the reference works consulted record neither his training nor his dates.
