Profile
Markus Sesko counts Ise no Kami Kuniteru among the smiths of Osaka shintō, the school that arose in Settsu at the beginning of the 17th century. Ise no Kami is an honorary provincial title, of the kind given to recognized smiths, and it does not mean that he worked in Ise.
A katana of his is known with a horimono (彫物) engraving of a dragon coiled around a bamboo stalk, the work of the engraver Nagasaka Yūhōken, who signed that he made it at the age of seventy; Sesko presents it as a rare piece. The sources consulted give neither his dates nor his teacher.
