Naoe Kanetomo
兼友 (Kanetomo)
A Nanbokuchō smith, a native of Yamato, who worked at Naoe in Mino; one of the smiths of Kaneuji's school who give the Naoe Shizu group its name.
Profile
According to the biographical dictionary that Kotobank reproduces, Kanetomo was born in Yamato province and settled at Naoe, in the Taki district of Mino. He belongs to the school of Shizu Kaneuji, and the Naoe Shizu group takes its name from that place; he is counted in it with Kanenobu and Kanetsugu. The same dictionary records that he previously signed with a different spelling of the name.
The sources consulted give no dates of life and no dated blades by him; he is placed in the Nanbokuchō period, with the rest of the group. The Kotō Taikan reproduces three blades signed «Kanetomo».
