How they work

Their motto speaks of the soul, of art and of what it protects. They make swords, tamahagane objects and forging demonstrations, and in their videos they show the tsukurikomi (造り込み, the joining of soft and hard steel), the hizukuri (火造り, shaping the blade with the hammer) and the folding.

Their best-known piece is “Aratashi” (新し), a sword encased in a block of resin as a decorative object, made with another company. They presented it in Nagoya in 2023, exhibited it in Tokyo in 2024 and in 2025 at the Kansai pavilion of the Osaka Expo. According to the company, National Geographic published a report on it in July 2025; it has not been consulted.

For Miyagi Tomoyuki, the NBTHK records a katana of 71.5 cm (2019) and two wakizashi, of 55.5 cm (2020) and 57.4 cm (2021); for Kuromoto Tomoki, a tachi of 76.4 cm signed 知輝 (Tomoki) in 2019.
