Profile

Sanekage worked in Kaga in the Nanbokuchō period; his dated works run from 1367 to 1374. Tradition makes him a pupil of Norishige of Etchū, although half a century separates the dated works of the two. Few signed blades of his survive; his jigane shows the matsukawa-hada typical of Norishige and the smiths close to him.
