Profile
Munetsugu (宗継) is a name from Shinano in the late Edo period, borne by one or more smiths, of whom only what the signatures say is known. One blade is signed 於都五条辺信濃国宗継造之 (Miyako Gojō-hen ni oite Shinano no Kuni Munetsugu kore o tsukuru), that is, he made it in the vicinity of Gojō, in the capital, Kyoto, and bears the date 慶応三年八月日 (Keiō sannen hachigatsu hi), the eighth month of Keiō 3 (1867). The signature does not give the generation, and the reference works consulted do not record his training, his master or his school.
