The piece
Ōsaka shintō katana signed 河内守国助 (Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke), with an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper, full mounting and shirasaya.
Katana of the Ōsaka shintō school, signed on the omote 河内守国助 (Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke); the ura is left blank. Based on the characteristics of the blade, the original seller attributes it to the second generation, known as 中河内 (Naka Kawachi), active around 1658–1673. The NBTHK certified it as 特別保存刀剣 (tokubetsu hozon tōken) on 6 October 1987, certificate no. 101460, in the name of Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke without specifying the generation. Nagasa 60.8 cm, sori 0.7 cm. The photographs show an unshortened tang with its original tip, crisp sujikai file marks and two mekugi-ana. The mounting appears in the photographs and is described by the seller: a round iron tsuba with a pierced hanabishi, fuchi-kashira with the Big Dipper in gold dots, kuyō-mon menuki, dark green ito over same, and a black lacquered saya with red speckling (ishime), its kojiri decorated with the chigai-bishi crest. A shirasaya is included.
