The piece

Shakudō nanako kozuka with a mountain landscape, gold pine and silver cranes in takabori and iroe, attributed by the original seller to Gotō Renjō, tenth master of the Gotō main line.

Kozuka in shakudō with a fine, even nanako ground, from which a landscape of mountains by the water rises in takabori: on the left, a pine with clusters of needles in gold iroe; on the right, above the peaks, silver forms that the original seller describes as cranes returning to their nests. The seller presents the subject as Mount Hōrai, abode of the immortals, and attributes the piece to Gotō Renjō, tenth master of the Gotō main line in the service of the Tokugawa shogunate, signed with his name and kaō; according to the same listing, the back plate is gold. The photographs show only the front: the relief is soft and precise, the nanako remains crisp across the whole surface, the gold and silver are complete, and no knocks, wear or rust can be seen. The signature, the back and the certificate do not appear in the photographs. The original seller declares an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper, dimensions of 96.2 × 13.5 mm and a fitted kiri box, which does appear in one of the photographs.
