The piece

Shakudō kozuka with a nanako ground and a kimono hung on a rack (the tagasode theme) in takabori with gold and silver iroe, unsigned and attributed to Gotō Tokujō.

An unsigned kozuka that the original seller attributes to Gotō Tokujō, fifth generation of the main Gotō line, and declares with an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper. The subject is tagasode, "whose sleeves?": a kimono decorated with gold crosses and flowers hangs from a lacquered wooden rack, and on the right is a small object with a gilt lid and a braided cord in a silvery tone. The photographs show a very fine, regular shakudō nanako ground, crisp takabori carving and well-preserved gold and silver iroe. The reverse is a plain polished shakudō plate with fine handling scratches. The black patina is even, with no visible rust or loss of gilding. It measures 9.5 × 1.4 cm according to the original seller, who supplies it with a paulownia box and cushion. The paper does not appear in the photographs.
