The piece

Shakudō tsuba with an ishime ground and a lakeside landscape of mountains, pavilion and boat, signed 蟻行子源長美 (Gikōshi Minamoto no Nagayoshi) with a gold kaō.

Tate-maru tsuba signed 蟻行子源長美 (Gikōshi Minamoto no Nagayoshi), with a kaō in gold hira-zōgan. According to the original seller, Nagayoshi was the second master of the Ichinomiya house, pupil and adopted son of Ichinomiya Nagatsune, born in 1756. The photographs show a plate of deep black shakudō worked in a fine ishime that evokes the mist of a mountain landscape. Above, distant peaks barely suggested; to the right, a multi-roofed pavilion among pines and a house by the shore in takabori; below, a tree on the bank; to the left, a boatman on water drawn in kebori. Both hitsu-ana carry an inner gold fukurin. The patina looks even and free of rust, and the gold is intact. It measures 70.3 × 66 mm, 4.9 mm at the seppa-dai, and comes in a fitted paulownia box. The original seller declares an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper, which does not appear in the photographs.
