Swordsmith of Izu · Sōshū-den

Enomoto Sadahito (榎本貞人)

A swordsmith from Izu, son and pupil of the mukansa Enomoto Sadayoshi, who forges in the Sōshū tradition and keeps up the ayasugi-hada of the Gassan school

Enomoto Sadahito (榎本貞人) is the son and pupil of Enomoto Sadayoshi (榎本貞吉), whom the NBTHK named mukansa in 1996. He forges in the Sōshū tradition, with notare and gunome hamon, and inherited from his father the ayasugi-hada (綾杉肌) of the Gassan school. Almost nothing of his life is documented: this monograph separates what is on record from what is attributed to him.
