Osafune Yasumitsu

長船康光 (Osafune Yasumitsu)

Lineage: the signature does not state the generation

An Osafune lineage of Bizen from the early Muromachi period; the first Yasumitsu is, with Morimitsu, the great name of Ōei-Bizen.

Profile

The Yasumitsu worked in Osafune between the Ōei and Eikyō eras (1394-1441), and two generations are distinguished. The first is named together with Morimitsu as the best of Ōei-Bizen; the second is said to have been Morimitsu's younger brother. The Yamada cutting list puts Osafune Yasumitsu in the second grade, that of ō-wazamono.
