Profile

Rai Kinmichi (来金道) is the name used by one or more smiths of the Mishina (三品) school of Kyoto. According to Markus Sesko, Echigo no Kami Rai Kinmichi (越後守来金道) was one of the sons of the Mino master Kanemichi (兼道), who in the second year of Bunroku (文禄, 1593) took him to Kyoto together with his brothers Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi (丹波守吉道) and Iga no Kami Kinmichi (伊賀守金道) and the youngest, Masatoshi; there they settled in the Nishinotōin (西洞院) district and founded the Mishina school. The sources consulted do not say how many generations used the name or allow the works to be divided among them.
