Profile
A swordsmith of Edo at the end of the Edo period, known from blades dated in the 1860s and signed Tachibana Enryūshi Fujiwara Yoshihide. The name Tachibana and the art name Enryūshi are those of Enryūshi Kunihide, a pupil of Nakayama Ikkansai Yoshihiro, and he is regarded as Kunihide's student; tradition also makes him a grandson of Yoshihiro. Little else is known of him.

Fujiwara Yoshihide
A 72.0 cm shinshintō blade in which both the blade and the mounting hold their own NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers; shirasaya, travel bag and maintenance kit included. A shinshintō katana signed by Fujiwara Yoshihide. It measures 72.0 cm of nagasa with 1.5 cm of sori, a long outline of moderate curvature. What sets the piece apart is its documentation: the blade and the koshirae each hold their own NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper. The set also includes a shirasaya, a travel bag and a maintenance kit, so the blade can rest in storage while the mounting stays assembled. The original seller does not give the smith's province, makes no statement about the tang or the number of mekugi-ana, and the signature bears no date. On condition, he declares several small patches of black rust spread over the blade, which are worth examining in detail photographs before deciding.
