Profile
Kawashima Kazuki (川島一城) works in Osafune, in the city of Setouchi (Okayama prefecture), in the Bizen-den tradition. He signed Masaki (正城) on his early works and later also Kazuki (一城). The son of a cutlery smith, he says he trained in the Bizen-den in Tokyo under Yoshihara Kuniie III, who is mukansa; Kawashima is not mukansa and competes in the general section.
His stated goal is the jūka-chōji of the Fukuoka Ichimonji and, specifically, the Sanchōmō (山鳥毛), the national treasure tachi kept by the city of Setouchi. At the NBTHK Exhibition of Contemporary Sword Craftsmen (Gendai Tōshoku-ten) in 2025 he placed nyūsen shichiseki (入選七席), seventh among the ranked selections. In 2024 and 2026 he took swords of his to Paris, to two exhibitions at the Maison de la culture du Japon.
