The traits of the school
The shape of the Sa school in the middle of the Nanbokuchō, according to Markus Sesko: a wide blade, with little difference in width between the base and the point, a thin kasane, a shallow sori and ō-kissaki. Its steel is a ko-itame or mokume with chikei; the temper, in nie, with kinsuji and sunagashi; the bōshi, pointed and with a long kaeri, and the tang, in ha-agari kurijiri with ō-sujikai file marks.

An unsigned katana with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers, attributed to Sa Sadayoshi, measures 69.4 cm, with 1.6 cm of sori, 3.1 cm of width at the base and 2.5 cm at the point:
- Sugata. Wide at the base and at the point, with a thin kasane, with koshizori and ō-kissaki.
- Jihada. Itame mixed with mokume, fine and dense ji-nie, frequent chikei and utsuri.
- Hamon. Of the suguha type with ko-gunome, yubashiri, tobiyaki, nijū-ba, ashi, deep nie, kinsuji, nie-suji and sunagashi.
- Bōshi. Notare-komi, ko-maru and hakikake.
- Nakago and mei. Fully shortened (ō-suriage), with the tip in a shallow kurijiri, katte-sagari file marks, two holes and no signature.
Its description presents it as a blade of the shape of Enbun and Jōji, wide and with a very long kissaki, with traits of Ō-Sa.
Designations to be checked
- A katana of 70.4 cm, with 2.4 cm of sori, a shortened tachi of the Bunna era, used to be cited for him as Jūyō of the 48th session (2002); it has not been found in any source that can be consulted.
- An unsigned katana with a gold inscription of a cutting test through two bodies, 二ツ胴裁断 (futatsu-dō saidan), by Matsumoto Chōdayū, is cited for him as Jūyō of the 22nd session. The date of the inscription does not fit: it says Jōkyō 2 (1685), but with the cyclical sign 己丑 (tsuchinoto-ushi), which is not that of that year; the original would have to be seen.
