In August 1989 he moved his forge from Tokorozawa to Honjō, in Saitama prefecture. There he forges the tamahagane (玉鋼, tamahagane) and makes some two swords a month. He takes part in the “Honjō Kodama satoyama” walk (本庄児玉里山, Honjō Kodama satoyama) organised by the prefecture: visitors watch him forge and hear how a sword is appreciated.
The Naohiro
The first Naohiro was a pupil of Taikei Naotane (大慶直胤).
The third was Jūō Naohiro (寿王直弘) (1910–1994), and the fourth was born in 1924.
The fifth was born on 22 January 1957 and learned from the third and the fourth; on setting up on his own, in 1981, he received the name Naohiro, and he uses the art name Keiun (慶雲); he sometimes signs only 寛 (Hiroshi).
These details come from a text by Markus Sesko that we have only seen quoted; it still needs to be checked against the original. The sources do not agree on whether the third was his father or his master.
